The Hardyman Family with two children aged 13 and 11 travelled to Japan in January.
They visited Tokyo, Kyoto and Myoko Kogen (Ski Resort) and spent 8 days sightseeing and 9 days skiing.

Enjoy their story.

The highlights of our trip were hard to choose as we expereinced so many! Kyoto is the traditional Japan and was a great cultural experience. Just wandering the streets was an experience in itself.

The incredible skiing in Japan is still a cultural experince with traditional Japanese food and the best snow in the world. The Snow Sports School was top class and the service was like nothing we have ever experienced.

Myoko Kogen – the Ski Fields

A visit to the snow monkeys has to be on your agenda as well. Seeing them bathe in a hot water rockpool was incredible.

We stayed in a traditional Machiya house in Kyoto and slept on futons. We opted for a more western style of hotel in Tokyo which was really central to get around. We stayed in a hotel in the ski fields enabling us to walk to the lifts and Japanese restaurants.

Our top tip for anyone planning this type of holiday – spend more time in Kyoto. There was so much to see and 3 days was not long enough.

We can’t wait to return next year at the same time!
