So I thought I would share a bit of our story when we travelled to Europe with our kids recently. Edited of course.
I kept a daily journal (thank goodness for an iPad) and this actually became like talking to a girlfriend. So I will leave out the personal details but rather share what we saw and experienced.
We travelled to Paris from Brisbane arriving mid April. Checking into our apartment in the evening and resting up before our first day in Paris.
Of course we were very excited and were up an out by 8am. It was a Sunday too. If you’ve been to Paris you will know that nothing starts here until at least 10am. So it was like stepping out in the middle of the night!
Fortunately we found the Mouffetard Markets and fresh baguettes. The food at these markets was fresh and delicious. I don’t think I have ever seen or tasted more beautiful strawberries.
Walking down to the Jardin des Plantes was beautiful. Colourful tulips and my first architecture photo! But wow is was so cold. People were up around jogging through the gardens in circles!
Meandering around without any agenda was the best experience. We found ourselves at the Pantheon and a little cafe nearby. Turning the corner I saw the Eiffel Tower in the distance! It was my first glimpse and my heart skipped a beat. I was SO excited!
Walking further along into the Luxembourg Gardens was well worth it. The lake here attracted many people and they were racing little remote controlled boats. People were just sitting here enjoying the sunshine without a care in the world.
Finding little shops to eat at is really easy – you have to stop yourself from eating! Heading further down to the Siene River we saw the Notre Dame in all her glory.
We recognised the famous bridge off the Disney Cars movie!
Albeit lots of kilometres covered on foot but no complaining (yet). It’s the ambience of Paris!
