Yvonne and Greg spent a month on the road in a motorhome driving through Scotland, Wales and England in September.

Read about their travels.

There were so many things on our bucket list but the biggest highlight was celebrating my 60th birthday in Edinburgh. Travelling to Orkney and exploring the stone-built Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae were also our favourite places.

We rented our Motorhome which was really convenient for stopping for lunch and only having to unpack once. The country lanes are very narrow so most times are spent driving slowly through the lanes – which was ok with us. The caravan parks are well set up and with friendly staff and good facilities. We didn’t book ahead and didn’t have any problems with booking in.

We loved all the history of the towns and exploring the countryside. Uffington was a highly recommend stop (southwest of England) because of the history and the hill carving of the horse.

Tintagel was another favourite stop for the windswept ruins and we also explored a church that was established in 520AD. Parking the motorhome on the cliffs of Dover watching the ferries come from France was a relaxing afternoon.

We would return tomorrow to explore places we passed quickly though. I would highly recommend hiring a GPS to assist with navigating and ensure that you have plenty of warm clothes!
