The Gollan Family with 4 boys aged 8,7,5 and 3 recently enjoyed a cruise on the Pacific Dawn.

Enjoy reading how they enjoyed their cruise….

We left Brisbane and sailed to Cairns and back during November.

The first port of call was Airlie Beach however we decided to stay on the ship as we were having too much fun! We also stopped in at Carins and Port Douglas and had a full day of exploring at these destinations.

The highlight of the trip for me was not cooking, cleaning or making beds! We also went on the Skyrail and the Kuranda Train trip in Cairns which was beautiful. When we got off in Port Douglas we decided to spend the day walking around the area exploring.

Our cruise included a visit to the Willis Island Weather Station. It is a small island off the coast of Australia. We were able to stop and communicate with the residents of the island.

We stayed in interconnecting rooms on the ship due to the size of our family. The accommodation was neat and clean and we had our own room keeper who looked after us even turning down our beds each night and making animal sculptures out of towels!

The upmarket restaurants are not included in the meal programs however are still very well priced. They book out early so I would recommend doing that early on to avoid disappointment.

The cruise has so many options for activities and entertainment that I would recommend going through it the night before so you don’t miss out on anything! Our top tips would be to take a lanyard with you to carry your ship card and check all on shore tours you’d like to do and book beforehand rather than on the ship  – ask About You Travel to check these out for you 🙂

I would definitely go on another cruise its great for kids and adults. It was out first ‘big’ holiday together as a family and it gave my husband and I time to ourselves as well as having a great time with our kids.
